Picked up my 2005 545i 6speed on friday and what a joy. Turned in a 540i 6speed and the difference is amazing. The satelite radio is awesome. The power is superband the handling is marvelous. MY 2003 was a good comparison. No match for the 545i 6speed.

You haven't seen anything until you hit the DTC button.

Congratulations cas. uhhmm, pictures? Why didn't you get the SMG that everyone raves about? Please give me your thoughts. I still have not made of my mind, 6 speed or SMG.

According to the guy who runs the shop where I'm going, it's a software issue (I think he really means firmware). I'll let you know after I take it in. JJ.

I have a modified CDV.

Why is needing to press the clutch to start the car such a big deal. Many a valet parker has driven the car into a wall because it was in gear with this feature.

I have driven a stick for the last 30 years. This was one change about 15 years ago that I welcomed.

I like having to press the clutch before starting the car. I guess Thats just the way I learned... plus I would HATE to jerk the car like that if I accidently left the car in gear and cranked it.

I just hate the part where the car stalls (driver error, not me my wife) and you can't just turn it back on by turning the key clockwise, you have to turn the key counter clockwise and then clockwise in the middle of an intersection.

You'll really hate it when she tries to start it while it is in gear and she doesn't have to engage the clutch. Crash!

That's how German cars have worked for decades. I'm so used to doing that off/on key thing that I do it in American cars as well.

I haven't made that horrible starter noise (you know, the one when you start a car that's already started) in years and years!

Get rid of your CDV and install a clutch stop and you'll love it even more!

wolverine--thanks again for the tip. I finally got around to having the CDV removed--I picked it up from the shop today and the difference is amazing. Definitely money well spent. JJ.
