FROM WHAT I gathered in looking through this forum the past year, 545i get around 22- 28mpg depending on highways to city driving, but thats the average for sure..........
however wait a while and im sure more members will let you know too......
good luck

I cant comment on the MPG because I dont pay any attention but I can chime in on price.
I bought an 05 545 recently at a BMW financial dealers auction and paid 26,500. The car is loaded and has 45k.
I imagine your car was bought for around 29k at auction and they mark it up atleast 10k for CPO and profit etc..
Fair price is relative, what do you feel is a good deal?

based on what I paid for my 04 CPO and the prices I have seen on here, I would say $34k would be a good deal and anything less even better. I would say anything $35k or more is too much.
for mpg, I have avgd 21.5 in mixed driving over the past 6 months. I can get high 20s on interstate/hwy, and low teens when hammering it stoplight to stoplight.

CPO cars are a bit more expensive. I'd say 30K plus/minus 10%. Check the blue book. Also, NAV is about 1-2K extra. Mileage is about 20 in city (a bit hwy too) and 28 hwy....but if you just drive around neighborhood at 30 mph or stop/go, you can expect very poor 13-14 mpg. If you have manual, the 6th gear is very efficient and you can even get 30 mpg.

You guys must have gotten some really good deals to pay in the upper 20s for an 05. I paid around 30K for my black/black fully loaded 545i with 47K miles. It wasn't a CPO either. As far as MPG, I'm getting 19.25/25 with regular and probably 21/28 with premium. I've been driving pretty conservatively of late because of gas prices though.

My combined consists of a 75 mile round trip freeway commute with about another 10% being city with occasionally getting on it. My freeway can be some traffic, but is usually pretty open driving 70 - 80mph. With this I am at 20.5 - 21.5 actual mpg calculated the old fashioned way.
On a trip with 99% freeway, setting the cruise at 80mph for most of the time, I will get 25.5 - 26.5 mpg.
All in all, for the power of the V-8, I think this is pretty good.
