Hi,

I live in the UK and have been offered a 2005 (05 plate) 530d SE Auto with around 150,000 miles on the clock for ?6,500 it has the following options (that I know of):
Xenon Headlights
Adaptive Headlights
Professional Navigation System
Bluetooth telephone

I'm totally new to BMW's and don't really know how the high miles hit the residuals. Does this appear a fair price, and what could the problems be with this mileage.

Many Thanks

that is an amazing price for the car.. the extras sounds good. you have the automatic tranny, the good navigation system and xenon lights.. for that price, i would be taking the car. are you sure this is not a fake?

Cheers. No, it's not a fake, it's the father in law's car. He was offered that for a trade in against a new 535d.

Good price. I'd buy that for my wife at that price. As long as it's been well serviced, you should be just fine - I'd imagine the engine will just keep on going for ever. That's a lot of miles in three years for the UK - what does he do for a living?

Get it!
In the future you can replace the engine with a new one :

Trade in should be about ?12-13k...

Trouble is that 100k is a barrier to many. I guess this car has done a lot of motorway driving? The wear and tear would be relatively low so it shouldn't be a problem. As ever the turbo is the most likely problem area but this can happen at any time anyway...

Do the usual checks, especially on the auto 'box but at ?6.5k it's a bargain!!!

Your father in law is giving it away, buy it. Be interesting to know if he had any problems with the car? I have the same engine in mine.
