2005 525I Oil Change
When do I need to get my oil changed the car currently has 2450 miles on it, dealer sales rep told me 15k which I wanted to laugh at, they could be right, but i dont trust them after not even knowing how to get my phone to work with I-drive. What is the proper oil change interval, the oil has not been changed since new.
Thanks, Ferrarislave.

Good question. My 06 525 is the same 15K. In the past, it was generally recommended to change after break in to alleviate the metal particles from recirulating in the system. With that said, maybe the build process and tolerances are such now that it not important to change the oil after break in. I don't know. What I will do is change mine at 1500 mi, then get on a normal schedule. Is it necessary, I don't know. Maybe some smart guys out there will respond so we can decide for sure. Maybe the topic should be: "When did you do your first oil change and why?". I'll follow this one closely

I was wondering the same too about the initial breakin oil change. I have more than 4000 miles now, and I bought my car just 4/2/05. I need to kick back. But that question is also not answered for me yet also. I don't trust those salesman either, they just say what they are told to say. I personally think maybe they dont have this initial breakin fluid change to save money. Don't forget, there's also the diff. tranny, etc.

I paid them for an oil change at 6k. Yes it does make a difference no matter what BMW says. The engine was noticeably smoother. I asked them not to reset the indicator. She is now in for her second oil change per service indicator. This on will be free.
