Hello everyone, I just got a 2005 525i with Navi and premium... however, the CD player does not play Mp3 CDs.

I know I have the options of adding an AUX input or an Ipod interface.

However, I was just wondering if a Mp3 CD player off a 2006 530I will fit my car - Direct Swap? If so, do I need to upgrade the software as well?

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

 

i think that navi cars should be able to play mp3's

maybe you need just a software update :s
my 03 one plays mp3s, but only after a software update
no hardware was changed

My 04 with NAVI did not play MP3's. I recently swapped cd players with an 05, MP3 works. Woohoo, now i can order Dension.

 

by 'replaced cd players' do you mean the single unit (CCC) or the 6 changer in the glove box?

how can I find out which year the car was built?
I do have the VIN # here... can I tell from that?

 

oh yeah there's also the variable of business navi and prof navi , business navi cannot play mp3 , I think even BMW is still confused over the matter LOL
