2004 BMW 530i E60 - Non Logic 7 - Hifi - Factory Upgrades - Help
Hello everyone,
I have spent too much time on this forum and I wish there was a sticky for these basic questions.
I own a 2004 BMW 530i with no Logic7. I assume it is a hifi system because I have speakers in the front door (one tweeter/mid each), one speaker under each front seat (I can't see it but I am 90% sure it's there), and two rear speakers. I also have bass/treble control in my idrive.
Question 1: The factory amp has a complicated crossover/channel setup. I am told upgrading this amp will boost power to the mid range subs underneath the seats. Is that true? If so, which AMP should I buy that has the correct channels/power for my setup? And is there any special customization of frequencies/crossovers required or is this handled at the speakers?
Question 2: Is there a wiring harness available on Ebay so that I can easily install my JL audio 10 inch subwoofer? (I bought this sub, http://www.ebay.com/itm/JL-Audio-CP1...item461a07c642) along with this amp (http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-JL-AUDIO...item233ce2e5eb).
Question 3: I am aiming this enclosure to the front thru the ski door. This should be adequate for bass. Is the AMP upgrade in question #1 a good value? If so, can you guys please recommend how I should upgrade the factory amp?
Someone with a lot of experience should chime in.

I left the factory amp when I added a jl audio 500/1 and a W3v2 10 and it was fine! I just slightly turned down the bass on the stereo and the sub made up for it!

@akgolfpro, Thanks!. Which box did you use and how much rattling was there? Did you aim it thru the ski hole? Is it quite loud in the cabin with that setup?
