Hello everyone,
i have a problem on an '04 545i where the idrive/computer keeps throwing the right number plate bulb failure warning.
Opened the covers in the trunk and found the "normal" break in wires on the hinge tube and repaired and re-sleeved with shrink wrap.
Replaces with oe oe bulbs and still dead.
now checked wiring before entering the hinge section by sheathing the insulation a little and puting s multimeter on it - no positive current.
Checked all listed fuses (trunk and glovebox) and all good.
It it seems like a fuse somewhere else? has gone or perhaps its dropped a + somewhere.
Has as anyone else had any issues like this?
Tia

All exterior lights run through the light module, LM, which performs a self check, test, with each start-up of the car. The LM has a counter built into its logic and in the case of a light that is shorted out will permanently shut down that circuit after 10 consecutive failures of the circuit. In some cases the circuit can be reset with BMW diagnostic software.
