2004 545i Price?
#1
I'm trying to sell my 545i, but am having a hard time figuring out the right price for the car. Its got the sport pack, SMG, nav, premium sound, cold weather and a couple of other options and has about 15,000 miles on the thing.
What's the right price for a private seller? I've checked galves and kbb, but I'm not sure to what extent I can trust these values. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I would use KBB as a good median price. If you are looking to sell quickly, price it somewhat lower. If you are in no hurry, price it a tad higher (but be ready to justify why it is worth more).
Why are you selling?

Edmunds.com will give you trade, private sale, and retail adjusted for options, milage, condition, and locality.

I took a test drive in a Porsche 911 Carrera S and it just blew my mind. Add to that the fact that my girlfriend and I are thinking about getting married, and I realized that this might be the last time -- for awhile, at least -- that I could drive a Porsche. So I decided to go ahead and pull the trigger, with the only issue being that I need to sell the 5er!

[/quote]The problem with using Edmunds.com and/or KBB.com is that both give rather different results. For private party sales, Edmunds.com tells me that my car is worth $54,693, whereas KBB tells me that my car is worth about $49,800. This discrepancy makes me wonder whether either are accurate at all.
I've also checked various dealer websites offering '04 545i's for sale, and again, the selling prices vary considerably. Add to that the fact that I don't know what their ultimate selling price is, and I must say I'm rather confused!

Check around and see if you can get the "black book" price from a dealer. This is what many dealers use and it has the latest prices at the wholesale auctions. That will give you a true wholesale price and you can then price it accordingly.
