More HP and someone has alrady taken the big depreciation hit- I think I would go with the 545.

My last car was a 528 and I loved it, except for the fact that every day I wished I had the power of the V8 540.

I love my March built 2004 545i. I would definitely get the 2005 545 over the 2006 530. Two reasons:

- more time to drive it
- once you feel the power of the 545, there is no going back

Being new to the BMW world I must thank all of you for taking your time to answering my questions.? Now that the fuel consumption question has been thoroughly answered my world of choices and indecision has grown slightly larger.?

I am looking at one of two excellent vehicles.? A used 2004 545 loaded or a brand spankin new 2006 530 loaded??

Your thoughts please.

What's the mileage on the 545i and price? I bought my 545i as a demo with 4500 miles on it and have not had any problems, 11/03 build date. Whichever you decide on I know you will enjoy the E-60. I vote for the 545i.

Welcome gsg247. I have a Sept. 2003 built 545i with 14,000 miles. It is a wonderful car and I have NO complaints about anything. I would buy another identical model in a minute. Good luck.

Get the 06 530. Everything will work (bluetooth etc.) and it will be a fine machine. The I-6 engines are super smooth and that new one will be awesome with 80% of the power of the V-8 and much better efficiency.

The mileage for the 2004 545 is 12,000 miles and the price is $50K, with sport pkg, cold weather pkg, prem sound pkg, and nav. This is the best deal i have seen. Others like it are selling for at least $53K.

Do not touch a 2004 545 built before June.

Why not? There are thousands of cars built before of 2004 running fine.

Do the 545. I have a May 04 build and it's sweet. Just awesome grunt in the mid-range that no 6 will match. You'll love it. The 530 you'll think is great, and refined and all that; the 545 will just be a little over the top brutal when you want it, which I just fear the 530 will NOT be.
