Hi ppl
I simply cannot find any diy instructions to change the engine air filter in a 2004 bmw 530d e60
I found a similar thread here with a link but that link takes you a 3 pages of topic titles, not one relates to what I am lookiong for.
I have recently bought my car and have not removed the engine cover yet but I expect to be able to find the air filter but sometimes apparently in some models it is very difficult so I want to find out how easy or difficult it will be on mine. M57 series engine
Thanks in advance

Yes the air filter is quite a time consuming job as you have to remove a lot of torx screw's and even the engine strut bar to get at the filter, just remember how to put it all back together when you're done!

Thanx everyone
I've already had a go but could not access the last bolt which is hidden underneath the strut bar and the pollen filter housing. I've had to put everything back together. Will have another go after reading the guide. Cheers sanj and tooltec

My Ride: 2006 520d - 19" 172s- Remapped - LCI taillights V6 cables - LCI xenon headlights - Denison 500 with BTA1500 - led interior lights - OEM led number plate lights
Planned mods:
Folding mirrors - Modmynav kit - High gloss shadowline trim -
I found pretty straightforward as long as you take your time and follow the attached instructions.
This was the first air filter I have ever changed and I couldn't get the strut
bar off
I'm sure you'll get it done the second time
