2 white boxes in spare wheel well?

Could anyone urgently advise what the 2 white boxes located in the spare wheel well are for?
One has a single plug and is located towards the front of the wheel well, and the other has three plugs and is located towards the back of the wheel well.
I'm really interested in the single plug box as this was sitting in a puddle of water created from condensation in the boot!!
Thanks,

Looks like you have a problem with the MPM (Micro Power Module...)

Thanks for the info. The car is booked with a local dealer so will point them in the direction of the white box.
When I removed the spare wheel I found the white box sitting in a puddle of water a third of the way up the side of the box. I opened the box to find water inside and the PCB covered in muddy sludge. Furthermore, the wires running into plug that fits in to the box are badly corroded. It must have been sitting in water for a long time. I'm amazed the I-drive hasn't stopped functioing before now.
It's a really bad design as once the water has collected around the box there is no-where for it to drain to.

I read all the posts about the MPM and understand that it is related to the I-drive system - but what does it actually do?
Does it provide / manage power to the CCC (the white or black box with the 3 plugs attached, I asuume) or does it do something else? If so, what?

Although it doesn't explain things in great detail, it does describe how the MPM functions. (It also explains that after 9/2005 production, the functionality was integrated into a different module so the "faulty design" of locating it in an area that could get wet was remedied.)
