Default 2 part question help please?

Firstly, can someone tell me where the factory audio amp is in the e60? I have a 2005 530i. Secondly, I was driving and all of a sudden out of nowhere the speakers stopped working but I still hear some bass. I wasn't listing to it loud at all. Did not hear a pop, it just suddently stopped working. Does anyone have any tips or advise on this? Your help is appreciated!

Sounds like your amp. Check the left trunk area, remove the trunk side covering and you will see the amp. Depending on your options there is also the sattellite and TCU modules in that area. If you don't know what the amp looks like do a search in google images.

I had my friend who works in car audio take a look at it and didn't see outstanding issue and suggested to have the dealer hook it up to the computer and run a diagnostic test to see what it is. I was driving home tonight and the speakers randomly came back on but the rear speaker has some static randomly. I guess the good news is that the speakers are back on. Any ideas if theres static what it could be?

Well, just a quick update. The speakers have all come back on and stayed on except for the left panel speakers. Those randomly work and sometimes just has static coming out of it. Whats weird is sometimes static comes through the speaker even when the car is off.
