i know that i have got this engine and it is EXCELLENT. And there anit much difference between this and the 3.0d. But could BMW have got more power out of this engine?
this is because the new 120d has a 2.0d engine with 163bhp. The 2.5d has 500cc more, 2 more cylinders and 8 more vavles yes it only creates 14bhp more. shouldn't it have more power?

Maybe, but horsepower is not everything. If you look at the torque of the two engines you will see that the baby 120d only produces 330Nm while the 525d produces 400Nm, so there is still a difference.
And yes, BMW might be able to get more out of the engine, I chiptuned my 525d a couple of weeks ago and have an output of 215hp and 440Nm (most likely this is more, but tuner told me that it was hard to measure it exacty due to the auto tranny) of torque measured on a performance bench.

I'm interested too.
I'm planning to test my car at a tunning center shortly.
The only problem of the ship is that my rear tires will need a replacement in a short time

What was the behavior of the Flat Tire Monitor during the test at the dyno?
Since there were only two tires moving the system should have generated a warning message!

but look at the 3.0d which has only 500cc more, same cylinders, same valves but that has 40bhp and 100nm more with again only 500cc.
the 500cc difference between the 2.0d and 2.5d only gives extra 70nm and 14bhp.
