I was using EuroCarFan's Radenergie R10s as an example. He's on 10x20 wheels with 275/30/20 Nitto tires and looks fine. I guess that extra .5" will indeed stretch the 275s on 10.5 wheels. Hmmm... He might have no choice but to go with 285/30/19 tires.

Which would mean rolling the fenders.

so the conclusion is to use 285 on the 10,5 and to roll the fenders - would that get you the 2/5 inch he would have needed if he had used a 275? with 285, he would need the 2/5" plus the extra bit (difficult to say how - depends on the actual tire, but definitely a bit in the height, and a bit in the width) he needs because of switching from 275 to 285 - can one do that with rolling the fenders?

both comments are right. My english is terrible today, so I am really having difficulty explaining this. But i think, i will manage this time.

there are two walls on a tire - the outer wall, and the inner wall. My first comment was that the outer wall will be 3mm further inside than my m6 wheels. In other words, my wheels in my configuration stick out 3mm more than your 10,5" wheels with ET30. So from my rear picture, you can tell roughly how your wheels might look like.

On the other, because your wheels are extremely wide, ie. 10,5" your inner wall will need additional 2,8 cm inside than my wheel.

here is a quick pic that i have drawn. It is a picture from the top. my wheel is black, yours is red. sorry for the poor quality.

So now to your question, will they fit, or better, how can one predict whether the wheels will fit or not? Well best is to compare with other wheels that do fit. We know that the outer wall is no problem, because it sticks out less than mine, so there will be no rubbing on the outside. In fact, if someone took a picture of their 166 wheels with 10 mm spacers, that is exactly how far your tires will stick out. on the inside, we for sure know that a stock 172 fits - that is 9,5 et 32. So therefore:
(9,5/2)*2,54-(32/10) = 8,865 cm from mounting point, therefore inside it needs 15,265 (9,5*2,54 - 8,865) from mounting point
your 10,5 inch:
(10,5/2)*2,54-(30/10) = 10,335 cm from mounting point, therefore inside it needs 16,335 (10,5*2,54 - 10,335) from mounting point

this means that your wheels needs 1 cm more inside space than the stock 172.

I know i am not of any help, but i hope with this calculation, you will be able to do the same homework for configuration that do work. from there you will know whether the wheels fit or not.

sorry about this

cheers rumman

ps edit. i have attached a second picture that gives you a better picture. hope this is of some help. cheers
Now i got it, as mentioned by you, i will need 1 cm more inside space than stock 172 and i assume i will have this, as i do not assume BMW would do such tight fitments on stock wheels, so i am taking this risk which seems minimal.

Now when it comes to streching, i saw the same wheel (10.5) fitted to a 255 but yes it streched and the owner replaced it with 265 with less streching so i pretty much know that 275 will be fine upon relying on the picture i saw on the same wheel. The pictures can be seen in this link...

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.p...;highlight=luff The pictures are with 255 and then replaced with 265s, so 275 will be better. What do you guys think?

Finally, we do not have any issues so far for the front and now i pretty much know that i need 1 cm more INNER space than stock 172 which i highly assume i will, and ı am sure that 275 will be fine, which will not make me use 285 that needs fender rolling.

As far as the final point upto now, the specs appear to be;
19X8.5 ET15 245 35 19
19X10.5 ET30 275 30 19

That is what i am going to do

Any comments?

Thanks

I did some digging around and found out that the max size wheel 275 tires can accommodate is 10" wide. In excess of 10" will automatically put you into 285 tires.

Those pics posted on e90post are after he put on the 275s on the 10.5 wheels. They don't look good nor do they fit. Here is the picture. I've circled the rear wheel and tire. If you're going to stick with 10.5 wheels I recommend you heed what rysed and I are saying and go with 285 and rolling the fenders. If they have the same wheel in 10" then go with that and use 275 tires.

Thanks for the comments, but the ones on the E90 are taken with 255, then he changed them with 265s ( not the ones on the pics), i am positive about this as i know the guy, anyway, i am not urging to go with 275, will also try 285 and if theyare ok, i ll stick with 285s, we will see, i will update you guys on this issue once i install them.

Thanks again for the hard work both vegastrashed and rysed...

Good luck with your wheel/tire project. Please post pictures. I'd like to see how 275 tires will fit on 10.5" wheels.
