OK....I put a set of Miro 111 19" wheels on my 550i and while I love the look, I'm not digging both the fact that my ride quality took a hit and the car vibrates on the highway now due to my wife running over pot holes in them. I am about to drop $95 a wheel to get all 4 wheels straightened and was really wondering if a tire change would help my situation some. I currently have the standard 245x35x19 on the fronts and 275x30x19 on the back. The tires look awfully thin and its easy to see why I'm having these problems. I was looking on tire rack and was wondering if getting larger tires with slightly more sidewall would help. By going up to a 255x40x19 on the front, and 285x35x19 on the rear, my total wheel diameter on both front and back would increase by 1.3", raising the car by .65 of an inch.

I'm not into the lowered car look and prefer a stock looking setup so I was wondering if this would look OK and also if it would help the right quality and protect the wheels a little better? Both of the wheel size upgrades fall within the wheel size ranges for that size tire...thoughts???

You might have rubbing issues. Impossible to say for sure, but I think you might have, especially in front.

Do you have sport or non sport? and what are the offsets of the Miro's?

This is a non sport model, and I honestly can't remember the offset. It was what was recommended by Modbargains for my car. I do know that they need hubcentric rings....

Looks like 15 F and either 20 or 33 rear.

I would try a 255/35 even 265's for the front and a 275/35 rear.

A 285/35 is to big and might not fit with an aggressive offset of 20. But still to big.

Regardless what suspension you have, 255 and 265 will undoubtably rub the inner fender in front, when fully turning the wheels left/right. Sure this isn't a big problem, because full turns aren't so frequent, and when you do them, the speed is slow.

Rubbing plastic or bending rims.?. for the 8.5 inch rim a 265 is or will be very close but the 255 will be nice and snug. That inner fender liner can be heated up and pushed back. Slow turning it might rub a tad if that but not during normal driving well not unless you go banzai over dips and speed bumps.

Try it out and see.

No rubbing at all on 245/40 and 275/35 here...Not sure about 255 and 285 though

I'm just here to offer my sympathy to the poor Miro's getting beat up. I have 245/35/19 and 285/30/19's and haven't had any trouble with mine. Your roads must be terrible. Are you sure it's not just the tire?
