I been searching around the net trying to get an idea of what I want for rims, but I wondering what size rims is best to get.
1) I have the sports package set up
2) It's a everyday use car for wife or myself
3) still want that comfy ride to it.
4) I don't want any rubbing going on unless its the wife leaning over.
5) I want that even with the body look.
Open to suggestions or ideas on how to make it this way. (lowering and suspension kits are not ruled out of the equation)
here are some looks I am going for:

I would say 19's is the highest to go without ruining the ride comfort. 20's will fill in the gaps good for not lowering and everyday driving IMO. I would say 19's is your best bet, but from the photo's of rim choices if you go with a dish lip wheel you would have to go with 20's to start from.

you're in cali, so you can go with 20s if you wanted to. might be buying tires constantly though. I have been asking this question alot lately too. 19s would be good enough and not mess up the ride of your car provided the wheels are hubcentirc. Its my understanding that if you get wheels that need spacers, your ride will change and thats not what you want. I like the 166s, and Looking at the other pics you posted, the third wheel is cool too. from 17 to 19 you will see and probably feel a differnece but if the wheels are made for the bmw, you should have no problems....but with those smooth roads in cali, you can mess with 20s if you wanted to.

19s will obviosly ride better then 20s
with the added tire meat. to keep the ratios right on 20s u need them low pros, and there going to ride hard. 17s prolly feel like riding on a cloud compared to what 20s will feel like. if u go 19s the deep lipped wheels will look smaller so i would go with flush faced wheels, they look bigger. my deep dish vossen 20s kinda look small to me even tho there not. its weird.

That is a big jump to 19 and worst 20s
Either way i would recommend light wheels at least lighter than stock as they will change the ride toward the worst.
If your wife is driving and not as good of a driver than you I rec 19 because there is more rubber side wall to cushion against bent rims.
I noticed with 275/30R20s on my car the rim is exposed to damage vs. stock, where the rubber is wider then the rim giving it some protection.

If you're going to have passengers go for 19". I'm on 20" and non-sport not lowered and I still rub. Adding 20's will take the practicality out of the car. You'll be extra weary of potholes, steel plates, speed bumps, etc...
