Hi All

Here are the details of CIP 17.0 package. As you can see, there is really only one change which concerns a power drain caused by the new active seat back width option.

All the Best

Hobi

================

The following software errors were corrected with the release of CIP 17.0 (Target data Status E060-05-03-520).

E60: Battery keeps getting discharged. Carrying out "Energy Diagnosis" test plan, the (aLBV) "active seat back width adjustment" has been recognized as the sleep mode preventer. Recode the complete vehicle.

=============

The following software errors were corrected with the release of CIP 16.1 (Target data Status E060-05-03-520).

On certain MY 2005 vehicles, equipped with the 4.4liter N62 engine, the engine oil CBS message comes on at a very low mileage. Refer to SM B12 213 05.

E60: Exterior lights flash briefly when vehicle wakes up. Refer to SM B63 207 04.

Vehicles equipped with CCC reboot upon startup (CID screen switches from BMW to blank screen).

While placing a call with a Bluetooth handset the call ends after 30 seconds. The timer was extended. Refer to SM B84 234 04.

Airbag Warning light is on and one or more of the following "timeout" or "self test" faults is stored:

Safety Information Gateway Module (SGM) FC 93AE, 93B0, 93B2, 93B4, 93B6, 93B8, 93B9, 93BA, 93BC, 93BD, 93BE, 93BF, 93C0, 93E4, 93F4, 9445, 9446, 9447, 9448, 9449, 944A

Other satellite modules may also store "timeout" or "self test" faults that may mirror the fault in the SGM.

Audio off or mute mode is not stored on CCC vehicles after sleep mode. Affected vehicles: E60 (5 Series with CCC), E63/E64 (6 Series). Refer to SM B65 228 04.

Not all the CD's can be selected in the CD changer, even though all 6 CD's are loaded.

Controller rotates on it's own without being operated.

The navigation map is displayed in the assist window (right hand window) on the CID. When the engine is switched off, after 45 minutes the on board computer is displayed instead of the map.

Vehicles equipped with CCC and CPT9000 telephone, the missed call indicator is missing, although when the menu is called up the telephone number and time of call are displayed.

The PDC tone and gongs are twice as loud following a CCC replacement (vehicles with SA 677 Professional HiFi sound system).

When automatic headlamp mode is used, the lights switch on as the vehicle enters a tunnel but do not switch off again after leaving the tunnel. Refer to SM B63 201 05.

Loss of power when decelerating and turning or coming to a stop. Vehicles equipped with N62 engine with SMG GS6-53BZ transmission. Refer to SM B12 201 05.

Ventilation temperature too cold. Refer to SM B64 202 05.

Well, whatever, its a big jump for me from 13.something

Main reason for me is the better nav screens, the icons down the side are way more intuitive and the perspective view (as correctly predicted by myself last august) is just great, especially in scotland where the blue sky and fluffy clouds it shows are rarely reality!!

:-)

completely off topic...does anyone know if HUD will come to the E90??

strange why BMW haven't got a 16.4 update for that minor mod ?

(One would have expect more mods for 17.X)

Just got my 2003 525i back. I do not know what the software was before but this is its first upgrade , now 17 due to a fault with I drive. Many improvements, so far I have found:-

Aircon:-
Now works properly, eg it is warm here, if aircon is put on auto, then the fan speeds up & blows the air fast until the set temp is reached. It then slows to maintain this level. It did not do this before. This is now right, like my old 3 series.

Steptronic:-
More responsive in D
I can now overtake safely in D rather then having to use DS

Business satnav 2004 disc:-
TMC works!
New icon to mute the voice directions.
A few other changes I havn't worked out yet!

Business radio:-
Plays MP3s in main CD slot, shows names & everything, superb.

A few new sounds, the car gives 3 pips on the hour, which you can turn off. Also it makes a bleep when car locked, didn't use to do this.

I'm sure there is plenty more.

Also I asked for my power mirrors to be activated on key, which they set up for me. Now I hold the lock button & mirrors fold in. Automatically return to normal when car unlocked.

I'm very impressed.

MP3 on Business Radio?
Does it work because you have Business Nav?

Iceman: I though I learnt your radio/mp3 specs table... perhaps I'm missing something

When I ordered my car (Feb05), the dealer told me that mp3 will be standard for ALL models, so i discarded cd changer. Now I have my week 14 525i and no mp3, no changer.
At least, I ordered changer preinstallation, just in case it will help to connect i-pod in the future :'(

Just called my dealership re " software upgrade (ie cip 17) for satnav and mp3's, was initially told that "to change the satnav perspective i needed a completely new hardware install but it wouldnt play mp3's".

So i said no all you have to do is install CIP 17 and it's all in the new software!!!

"err can we take your no.please and we will get back to you"

Are these people for real , this is a main dealer ffs.
