My current Progman version is probably about v16.x. Is an update to 29.x worth the ?250 (car is out of warranty)? What major differences are there? (and, yes, I have searched the forums )

TIA

Hmm.. Progman v16 damn that's old. Are you sure? You have professional navigation with MP3 and IPod? I?m pretty sure that you already have at least twenty ... something. Because without the update to version 2x.xx MP3 or IPod weren?t available... If you have the current (LCI) graphics on your I-Drive screen, then version is at least 25.

If you have no problems with the current one, I wouldn?t pay that much.

Cheers.

Pretty sure - the last flash was done when I bought the car two years ago and had the Extended Voice Activation fitted (SA did MP3 enabling and key-fob mirror folding FOC at the same time ), they also disabled bluetooth, but fixed that FOC the next day in about 10 minutes.

There was definitely no flash done when I put the iPod integration in since I had that done by an audio dealer rather than BMW. No LCI - I recently drove an '06 M5 and the iDrive seemed to be quite different in menu structure and layout and my car definitely doesn't have the LCI graphics.

The main reasons I'm thinking about having it done are I'm about to get an iPhone, it's sooooo slow (I've read here that it's faster now) and I believe some issues with the iPod integration (such as always returning to the top of a song/playlist making it a pain to select the next album/artist/whatever) are resolved.

You have to have at least Progman V20 or higher for MP3 playback, as I just had my 2005 upgraded and I needed that high for MP3 to work. So if you have at least that I wouldnt waste your money unless there's some addition benefit you get from it.

I'll have a think and do more research, but I gather from reading around the BT forum that iPhone requires post Sep '07 Progman and another BMW tweak.

OT Question:
IceyTys, are you Vanilla Ice? Your pic from your avatar, your handle (Icexxxx) and location (xxxx baby) all sound/look like Ice Ice Baby....
So, are you the Ice man??
