I have gathered that we are now losing Map space for the stupid icons. It pisses me off, actually. The icons are not even that valuable. I'd much rather have more Map Space.
When you select "Atlas On", you do see the screen without icons on it (like it was) and it's larger. It's just that "Atlas On" is really only useful at limited times.
BMW needs to have a way to turn those icons off and have more of a full screen in that left window.

Yes you do loose a small part of the map area but personaly since my upgrade I have found the 'soft buttons' a much easier way to get more useful info on the move without the need do go into the main menu.

So what's the verdict Post 16.2 with Navi or Pre 16.2 with Navi?
I personally think the 16.2 and up hightens the cool quotient.

I actually don't understand the below question...
Anyway...
I'm not a big fan of 16.2 in relation to NAV. I'm pissed about seeing the icons on the left side and losing map space. Makes the viewing area smaller. And what does "Navigation info on" or "Navigation info off" do? I see it doing nothing on that button/voice command. How often do you switch to "Atlas View" or the not very useful "Perspective View"? If you switched a lot, those icons would be useful. Since I personally don't switch often (I pick a setting and stick w/it), I can use voice or the iDrive controller. The icons are just a waste of screen space IMO. It's cool if some of you like it, but they need to add a way for those of us that want more map space to turn them off. Bigger the Map area the better. I wish it was all the way across where the Assist Window is.
Also, you can no longer see the vent settings on there. I swear, I wish BMW would ask real users what they want. One KEY thing to add to the center screen is the ext. temperature so passensgers can see that info.
Not a fan of 16.2 so far.

If you have earlier chosen destination by info (fx. restaurants) there will be icons for all restaurants on the map. This is what can be turned on/off
