Sorry I need some insight and don't think any of you want to read the 8 page trans surge/slam again!!!
I'm at 95k and occasionally get the infamous slam. No slipping and car shifts smooth. Thanks to all on forums I conclude that both the dealer reset can help as well as fluid and pan change. However with software reprogram/updates I have a question... Is the dealer reset and INPA two different programs? I was introduced to this indy spot in s. philly that will perform the service replacing the fluid, pan, sleeve, and another component in the mech unit itself (he stated looks like a domino???) for $650 using redline.....Does an indy shop have the capabilities to do the software programming that the dealer can perform? Also can anyone enlighten me what this domino thing would be?
I also called dealer to price out a battery and asked about servicing the trans due to the occasional slam. He obviously said it's lifetime and would check color of fluid, top off if needed, and reprogram and update software. SA also stated that a weakened battery has been known to cause all sorts of weird electronic problems and could possibly be the culprit of the slam. Any one else heard of this? I read a thread on the e90 forums where one of the members said this was the case....
