I've been contemplating the move to a 1M. My kids are still young, so space won't be an issue for quite a few years. The e90 M3 is probably the wiser choice, but I'm intrigued by potential collectors status of the 1M. Anyone else thinking about making a similar switch?

Im considering the 1m. but the thing is, i dont think its that good looking of a car. im at a 535 right now and before i had porsche cayman s. also considering the M5, aston martin vantage, or audi s5. the price of the 1m is definitely appealing. anyone bought one recently? im curious to know what the sold price was?

I autocross, so either the e90 or 1M would be fine. The e60 is very capable and I do very well against other BMW models despite the weight and lack of a LSD. On the other hand, the weight and lack of LSD creates a hunger for something better.
I've driven both, but not for extended lengths nor with a full load of passengers. The fuel economy of the 1M is very impressive (19 city 26 hwy). My daily commute is very short and I'm averaging 15-16 mpg with the 550i which is similar to what I would get from the e90 M3. The majority of our family trips are done with my wife's MDX.
Most dealerships are selling the 1M for MSRP. The challenge is finding a dealer with an allocation that hasn't been spoken for. BMW is only sending 800-1000 units to the US.

I may be in the minority.. and I know plenty of people drive/will drive the car.. so please don't be offended but I think the 1 series is an abomination. I hate it. Feels like something that cheapens down the brand. Maybe necessary in this economy and overseas to save on fuel but to me it is  . Like I said don't take it personally.. to each their own.. but it's definitely not on my list.

I just think Mazda Miata when I see it but with the same engine as the 335i ... and I'm not sure what's faster stock.. 135i or M3 now? I just picture the car making the Road Runner "meep meep" sound when it drives around. Would suck to be in your fancy M3 and get smoked by a little 135i going .. meep meep!
