My car started to have the Long cranks (5-10seconds) since the first week but I thought they are normal so I overlooked it. Now It's been a month, rather than sometimes, It cranked 5-10seconds every day. Even worse, very very stink smell blew out from the A/C with the long crank. My brother who is 12-year-old complained about how bad the smell is everytime; even my feet doesn't smeel that bad. Two days ago after I drove with the long crank engine start, my car suddenly accelerate very slow, I step all the way down till the RPS is like 6000 before the car even reach 55mph. This is very shocking, can't imagin what will happen if i drive on steep highway and the car ended up going backward...

I ended up brought it to the dealer yesterday because I start to feel unsafe to drive the car. can't believe it happen to My first car/BMW. Anybody have similar problems? I love e60 but i just don't trust my e60

You waited until the car lost so much power that you were going backwards

If the car is under warranty you should always go to the dealer as soon as practical, even if they do not fix the problem the first time the problem will be documented in their system.

My car starts in about 2 sec and I have about 30,000 miles.

By the way what car do you drive and did you buy it new or used?

Hope everything works out for you.

The car is brand new 2008 535i. I just got the car back about an hour ago from the dealer. They said the Fuel Pump(as expected) but couldn't verify the fowl odor that comes out from the A/C nor the accelerating problem. Well, I don't want to ruin my mood for tomorrow's trip so I don't wanna argue them. My brothers surely can confirm about the bad smell because it just stinks badly.
Basically, they just said it's fuel pump. I will try to record the video everytime I start the engine for about a week or two. Hopefully no more long crank.

I'll let you guys know how the car behave.

one question though, how long does yours normally crank before the car start?
