Does anyone know if the CCV is actually part of the valve cover or is it a separate component, (08, E60,N52), thanks!

On N52 engine, you have oil separator (located under the intake manifold). Oil separator is connected to the valve cover (near the firewall) and another hose to oil pan on the bottom.

Thanks pcy, do you happen to know the part number, I've looked at BMW parts catalog and come up with 11 6 1750 1566, but according to parts store this is not for my vehicle.

What are the last 7 digits of your VIN #?

For my car ('06 530i), oil separator part # is 11617531423.
If you give last 7 digits of your VIN, I will look up.

Apparently, your car's engine is N52N (E60N 528i, LCI, production date 07/2007).

On my N52 engine, the return pipe from oil separator attaches to the oil pan. On your car, there is a plug on the oil pan where that hose is supposed to go. See the attached pic.

It looks like there is no oil separator on your engine. Look at part # 14, on your engine, that hose connects from valve cover to the under/back of the manifold. It looks to me like they removed the oil separator and connected the hose directly to the rear of the intake manifold.

pcy, thanks for taking the time and effort to help a fellow Bimmer, greatly appreciated! I was afraid of that, now, I will have to order the cover as well, quite expensive.
