My Ride: 05 545i
Default

ive had my 05 545i for 3 months and i notice the lack of interest im having in the car..I dont like changing kitts or exhaust not even wheels. i like my cars STOCK! (but thats just me)

So anyways im thinking of just selling the 545

Im already leaning toward a 2008 550i (sport of course!)
Now the 2006 M5 im a little worried about. ive never owned a M car..let alone drive one!
Has anyone driven the 2 cars..what should i look for in a 06 M5 ???

(Not tryna be a A hole but Screw the GAS!)

I have 08 550i sport and it's a great car. It has good power and a perfect balance of handling and comfort. The 550i is the closet you will get to an M5 and still be considered a good daily driver. Now on to the 2006 M5, my friend has one, and I've driven it a fair amount of times, the car is a absolute beast, especially with the Eisenmann exhaust he has on it Handling is what you would expect from a M car If you seek attention this is the car for you. Not a car I would consider as a daily driver or less it was leased, because maintenance on the 06 can be costly. Either way they are both great cars. If you have the cash and can afford to maintain a 06 M5, I say go for it, you only live once and driving a M5 is living

DD=550, weekend car=M5

I wanted the M5 bad, but I can't do it as a DD, you say screw gas now until you find yourself at the pump every other day spending upwards of $70 a visit at today's prices. Also, remember there's the initial buy in that most of us can swing, it's the insurance+maint that's the jaw dropper.

If you're gonna get an M5 you're not gonna granny it around and the car will make you pay.

Like I always say;

Live the Yuppie life, drive the Yuppie car, pay the Yuppie price.
Don't live the Yuppie life, but like to pose as a Yuppie? Pay the Yuppie price.
Don't live the Yuppie life, don't make the Yuppie income, but like the Yuppie car? Be quiet and learn to get your hands dirty.
Now the 550i M-Sport with SAT, you will be very happy!

And don't let anyone talk you into getting a 535i+tune

lol, I agree. Cars that are lighter, faster, cheaper and get better fuel mileage suck!

I have a 09' 550 and absolutely love it. Mpg's are pretty good and the power is there when you want to play. The m5 will kill you at the pump but the M power is awesome. If the car is a daily driver go with the 550i otherwise get the M5.

Seems like people are oblivious to his question. He is a 545i owner who is bored of his car. A 550i will offer absolutely nothing different other than a bit newer, tighter suspension and insignifigant bump in hp that has proved to be not recognizable.

Its a no brainer to get the m5 if you are doing this because you are bored with a 545. A 550 will not excite you for more than a week when the "newer" car feeling wears off.

Nah buddy, I had a 2004 545i SMG. My 2008 (LCI) 550 M-Sport with SAT is much better. Little more power, the SAT beats SMG hands down, plus the LCI upgrades and the M-kit/19" 172's and I feel much better now. A much "refreshed' feeling.

Been months now and I'm still excited

M5 will excite both you AND your wallet if you're not careful.

The main question here is this, what is the intended use? We all agree that having an M5 as a DD is not the best choice unless you have deep pockets.
