Hi everybody.
I have a '08 550i with M-sport package, so my rear tires are 275/30/19. My question is, can i put 285/35/19 on the stock rear wheels??
Did anybody put m5 tires on 550i and would it go, space-wise?

Thanks

and props on that 550

I would like to sort of give you a bit of a "NooB orientation" regarding your post though. This is a pretty common question and a great deal of people have posted a great deal of info on this subject here over the years. Hence, you're not getting too many replies - people read the question and think you're too lazy to do a search.

Now, to answer your questions:

1. I'd recommend putting either 285/30/19's or swapping fronts also if you go with 285/35/19s - so that it doesn't look wierd. It is totally doable though and since you don't have AWD, you've got nothing to worry about... except profiles looking (and being) too tall

2. Lots of people put M5 wheels on non-M E60's, they use spacers for best results. Specifics are easily found through search. IMO The BEST looking wheel for the E60, bar none, BTW So As far as throwing M5 tires on the 172's - if you do all four, it may work. But honestly, I don't think that's a good setup somehow.

Best,

V.

Thanks V.
Only reason why i want to put bigger tires on the rear is the fact that the rear tires look thiner compared to the front ones.
I know that the e60 chassis can accommodate M5 wheels, but i like more the stock 172 ones and since they have different offset (einpresstiefe),
i'm not sure if m5 tires on 550i rims would be fine...

285/30 would be your best bet, if you can find that sized tire in the same brand you have on your front and yes they would fit. 285/30 would have roughly the same diameter (25.73" to 25.75") and sidewall height (3.36" to 3.37") as the 245/35's your running in the front. At least I am going by assuming that is the tire size you have up front.

Check out this tire size calculator to help you out.

I just bought 2 brand new bridgestone potenza pole position 285/30/19 from a guy who crashed his car before he could put them on. So, $400 for both shipped is a good deal to me?!
