Default '08 550i Coolant temp switch normally closed or open?

This sensor is at the bottom return hose from radiator to thermostat/water pump, under normal temp conditions is it normally closed or open?
There is also a sensor attached to thermostat and one to water pump, are there any additional coolant temp sensors on the engine block or anywhere else in addition to these 3 sesnors?
I believe this is causing the radiator fan to stay on constantly during engine running.
So question is how to temporary disable the high speed fan operation, I know engine/coolant is not hot to make the fan stay on.

You essentially cant disable the high fan operation. If you had the correct tools to do it you can but most owners do not have the capability to (tools cost more than what you are willing to pay for it to do one thing). It's there to help protect the engine from overheating. You need to get a scanner to see what the codes are to know what is causing it to switch to safe mode
