On my way to work this morning, I noticed a grey Merc CLK500 tailing me pretty close. I changed lanes legally into the carpool lane (I was with my fianc?e and he was alone), when this joker crosses over double yellow lane to get behind me. I sped up to about 90 M.P.H. and the Merc is still on my bumper. I don?t usually race but the road was relatively clear and without cops. I decide to give it a go, put the car into sport mode, click down to 3rd gear, and punch it. As I get farther away, he desperately tries to catch up with me. I slow down to let him catch up but he furiously tries gunning it past me. I step on the gas pedal as the CLK gets to my door but the turbos kicks in and I effortlessly pull ahead. As we approach some light traffic I slow down to give some the dude some acknowledgment but the retard crosses over the double yellow (for the second time) to the 4th lane and takes off.
Just for curiosity's sake, once I got to my office I looked up the HP for a CLK500 and to my surprise it has got a 302HP V8 (according to wikipedia). My E60 535i seemed much quicker than the Merc but how could two cars with nearly the same HP be so different?
