I don't think BMW wants you to feel like you are glued to the back seat. They want you to feel like you are cruising normally, and then notice all of the cars you are passing and look at the speedo, or hud, and see that you are breaking the law. I think the M5 is reserved for that, but they want refinement and speed in your 545.

I agree. I don't feel glued to back of my seat. I just have to back off the throttle once I see I am at 100mph when all I thought I was doing was changing a couple of lanes.
Subterfuse, please insert a signature so we know more about your car. What kind of tranny do you have. The 6spd manual does what you want it to. I have seen many throttle lag posts for the step.

MB numbers are nice but unless is an AMG it won't move as a BMW will with that HP. MB trannys are sluggish and are not as precise as BMW. I'm very impresses on the perfomance of the 530s against higher HP cars of its class. The E60 acceleration is amazing for the small size of engine. In one of the 2005 Auto detroit articles says " . Power flows through a new seven-speed automatic transmission, and the new E350 will accelerate to 60 mph in about 6.8 seconds, according to Mercedes-Benz. " that is just 2/10ths of a sec faster than the current E60 530..
