I would be shocked if they total the car.

It's worth $62,000. The only way the insurance company will total it is if it will cost more than $62,000 to fix it. And it won't. They will fix it. Most of the damage is behind the c-pillar, meaning the bulk of the electronics and the engine are intact. That's where the cost is.

I don't know about that appraisal... The state of Virginia just sent me my personal property tax bill and based it on a value of $41,850. I'm not complaining mind you since it means a lower tax bill, but the beancounters somewhere saw fit to affix that value to it.

My car is a 2006 530i as well - sticker was $55K

Glad the outcome wasn't worse for you wiszmaster.

Sorry u have to go thru such an accident as this - but glad ur ok. Tough way to prove how good the safety protection is. And there is a lot to be said about how HP can get u out of trouble as well. Could the 550 have got u out of harms way??

If so - UPGRADE

I've been nervous driving in this dam Ophelia the last few days worried about the tourist that stop in middle of highway without lights just cause it's a rainin cats and dogs.

Again, sounds like you came out as good as you could and I'm glad for you in that regard.

Take care

Glad your okay and its fortunate that the truck didn't hit the middle section of the car. Look foward to seeing your new E60.

Glad to hear you're still in one piece and hope you get a new car out of it!

I know it sounds a bit daft but in the pics your car still looks really cool on the back of the tow truck!

When you get yourself sorted out let us know how you found the safety systems etc.

So scary, glad your still here to tell us your story. The car is not as important as the people inside it. Get well soon.

Only e60 owners appreciate an e60, no matter what shape it's in. Gotta love it!

PS Glad you're OK!
