IF the 550 is in good condition then go for it. With 50K miles left of warranty you should be fine.
Now if the car is for your wife don't even bother and get the 525, you'll spend less on gas and chances are you'll need the warranty more often you can use your gas savings on the extra insurance cost.

Isn't the basic warranty on a 550i 48 months from time placed in service or 50,000 miles whichever is first?

Even I would take the 550, no offense to the ones that have the 525 but when I was researching my purchase the 525 was too underpowered for the weight of our cars for my taste. I couldn't see going from an SRT Jeep to a car with less than 200HP
Well, the engines did change in '06. An '04/'05 530 has 225 HP, whereas an '06/'07 525 has 215. A couple of quick mods and you're there. The 550 is another story.

Thanks guys i signed the deal on the 525i dont really need another V8 plus this is more for the wife since she scared to drive my car but i will be modding this car first thing it needs is some new wheels, how much HP/Torque can I get out of this car modding it? And Cause the car only has 10k miles is that some kind of concern that its almost four yrs old? the previous owners only used the car during the summer when they were in town for the few months but they said the car been stored properly according to bmw manual.

First make sure the battery is fine. The car is still under warranty as soon as you get it so take it to the dealer and make sure they check it and replace everything they can under warranty, inc oil. It the prior owners used it only during vacation i don't think they had much time to take it to service... some fuids need to be replaced every certain amount of yrs, regardless of mileage
But interior must be brand new

I understand the 525 has the exact same engine as the 530, but restricted. Not sure how to free it up but it's possible, some tweaks in the computer are needed

I would be EXTREMELY suspect of an '06 525 CPO w/ 10K. Why so little? Does it have problems, like a "lemon" type history? CPO or not, going into the dealer for free every 100 mi. is no fun.

That's true, make sure to check all records, carfax, etc....

worst case scenario, if it's a CPO sold by the dealer and ends up being a lemon you'll get your money back.

He already signed the contract, I guess. Getting a dealer to own up to a problem is also not easy.
