My 530i has a small oil leak. I've been noticing drops of oil on my garage floor that are coming from the front of the engine compartment. I've read a few things about vacuum pumps and valve cover gaskets, but how can I troubleshoot this myself? Pics would be extremely helpful. The car has 52k miles and is out of warranty.

 

Check around the oil filter housing. replaced both and my leak stopped.

 

For my 535i, I just replace one gasket below the oil filter, costed me $18 and two hours....
