I have Ordered an 05 ED 545i with Navi, should i get HUD or not?

Comfort seats or not?

Sport package with SMG or Step?

BMW OEM clear protective covering for hood, bumper, foglights or not?

Thanks for your input!

Comfort Seats YES
Sports Package YES
Transmission:::: If you like a stick then get the SMG. Its a manual transmission. If you cannot drive a stick then the SMG is not for you. Get the Step.

Do you guys see any longterm reliability issues with HUD or SMG?

I can drive a stick but would rather have a hand free for the ladyfriend!

Does the SMG really "jerk" in auto mode?

L-T reliability issues?! sure!! I can give you an answer for that!! Check w/ me 8 year from you McFly

Seriously thou.... on the jerkyness shifting issue... all I can say is that it will be as jearky as any manual tranny. It's all about the skills (or lack of).

Know what i mean??!!

cheers,

beewang

HUD adds an extreme amount of info for the Nav including direction and distance to next turn. It is well worth the $$$. Comfort seats as well. The choice of tranny is up to you I agree with everyone above. As far as clear bra I would get quotes/ warranty info from 3rd parties and compare with the OEM. I didn't know BMW offered this. You will love the V8.

I have HUD and love it. The sports seats are great, no need for comfort seats. I love my SMG, just accept its not an automatic. But it is fairly smooth.
