Has anyone heard of this happening? I recently (1 week ago) bought an 05 E60 to keep my 98 E39 company. Anyway, driving home last night I drove into a pot hole and it would appear as though I punctured the "transmission pan" -- just a guess here as the car is currently being towed into the garage for repair. I got home, and only by accident noticed the drips all along the driveway when I stepped in it. Has this happened to anyone? Or, am I the first one to do this? The car is so much lower to the ground than my E39 with these Bridgestone Potenza runflat 18" tires. It actually says in the manual for the E60, "use of these low profile tires makes the car more susceptible to road damage." -- great... If this has happened to you or if you know anything about this as being a common complaint -- I would love to hear about it. I called the repair shop and the guy said, "No, that sounds really unusual..." -- figures. Thank you! - Nate.

You are correct. I had it wrong. What happened was the pot hole punctured one of the panels on the bottom of the car; however, the control arm bushings were leaking and when the puncture happened that allowed that fluid to leak out. Too bad the protective panel doesn't have a hole in it from the factory so you know when your control arm bushings are leaking. I am so glad I did not puncture anything vital.
