.my guess is that is will be minor like adding adaptive brake lights and LED's in the rear...but it would be very noticable if this is what is taking place, as the 5 series would be the only car they offer as of MY 06 not to have LEDs with adaptive breaklights

Adaptive brake lights are on the E60 allready as a standard feature! (BFD).

maybe i said it wrong, I meant the feature that increases the break area under hard breaking...is that on the E60's even though it doesnt have the LED's?

I don't exactly know what you mean.
The E60 has ABS, CBC and Brake Force Display. (When you brake and ABS is in use additional lights will light up at the rear end of the E60).

Yes thats already available on the E60s in the US they use the bottom portion of the light assembly where the reverse lights are... that ROW of lights... those are LEDs and those light up under heavy breaking...

See here:

"Dear Mr. XXXX:

Thank you for contacting BMW of North America, LLC regarding the E60 5 Series' brake lights.

Actually, the current 5 Series uses both LED and standard bulbs. The E60 5 Series utilizes adaptive brake lights, which is technology borrowed from the 7 Series. The 5 Series utilizes standard, iridescent bulbs for the left and right tail lights, but a LED third brake light is also utilized. Under hard braking conditions, the 5 Series employs a 2nd stage of the adaptive brake lights, which illuminates additional LED brake lights on the left and right side to provide additional alert to driver's behind.

Unfortunately, I do not have any additional information as to the reasons for choosing this combination from our engineering group. However, the choice appears have implications including a lower cost of maintenance and greater reliability. (*EBMCS03: YA RIGHT... you mean give you more room to face lift for future... JUST ADMIT IT BMW*)

If you have any additional questions or concerns, please reply to this e-mail or contact us at 800-831-1117, Monday through Friday from 9am - 9pm, Eastern Standard Time.

Sincerely,

XXXX XXXX
National Customer Relations and Services
Representative"

also, i think they will intergrate this new automatic door access feature for MY06...they are starting to put it in the spring build 7Series, and the new MY 06 E90 3 Series is said to have this feature so I would assume they would put it in the 5er's as well...

im planning on optioning my car out so Im waiting to see what will be available for MY06 specifically for the M Sport which is not available yet in the Uote=m630,Dec 4 2004, 04:48 PM]

BMW is incorporating this feature called i believe 'comfort access' or something like that...its this feature that you hear about with Infiniti's now where you have the key in your pocket and the car will recognize it within a certain distance and open the door locks. It may also have the ability to allow you to keep the key in your pocket and press a 'start' button to turn on the ingnition...the 7er's get in spring from what I've read

...we'll have to wait and see

I decided to go with the '05. Made a deal today for 60,000.00 with sp, ps. what do you guys think?

For that much, I hope your MY05 has Premium Pkg, Sports Pkg, Nav, Xenon, Logic 7, Steptronic, and free floor mats along with the red reflector...and I hope that includes tax if it's a 530..if it's a 545 disregard...look for a deal going about 1300 to 1500 over invoice.
