welcome aboard, rafael montalvo ! if they are going to give you a little discount that you mentioned, i'd definitely go with the '05.

This may sound like a stupid question to some, but how can you tell the difference between 04 vs 05 model? Is it just the build date? I remember reading somewhere that 05 models were ones that were built after Aug. 04.?

MY2005 started September 2004. All cars before that month didn't had the extended interior trim on the lower center console. That is the easiest way to find out out real quick if a car was built before Sep04 or after.

consider that the MY '06 E60's will have some exterior change as well as some structural changes, so as hard as it is, Im waiting on them as I will also be buying and I couldnt bear to buy the car when there will be something that is noticably different for '06

Any idea of what changes are planned? Photos?

I don't think there will be noticeable changes on the exterior.

......I would offer them about $52k (and have them throw in the updated interior wood pieces including the gear shift knob & ebrake, blue tooth and pdc-dealer added) if you want to go with the 'o4. $3k off is too little.

Why change to the ugly wood knob and ebrake? I love the alu-knob!

The wood gearknob looks great with the rest of the wood in the car. I didn't get the e-brake in wood because I would lose the leather one..

i dont know what is being done, but I know that whatever is being done is holding up the M5, as the president of M division stated...He said there will be some exterior change to the entire E60 line up for MY 06 and they wanted to incorporate this change into the M5 so it has to be a retrofit item like the rear light assembly..

.my guess is that is will be minor like adding adaptive brake lights and LED's in the rear...but it would be very noticable if this is what is taking place, as the 5 series would be the only car they offer as of MY 06 not to have LEDs with adaptive breaklights

also, i think they will intergrate this new automatic door access feature for MY06...they are starting to put it in the spring build 7Series, and the new MY 06 E90 3 Series is said to have this feature so I would assume they would put it in the 5er's as well...

im planning on optioning my car out so Im waiting to see what will be available for MY06 specifically for the M Sport which is not available yet in the US
