I'm purchasing my first E60 tomorrow!

It's an 04 6 spd and I was just curious (i checked the faq and tried a quick search) how do I know for sure if it has the sport package? I know the suspension should be different but does anything give it away for sure? Car has rear sunshade and logic7, no nav though (oh well). I CAN'T WAIT!

One thing that might help is the color of the trim around the windows. Sport package cars have black (shadowline) trim and non-sport package cars have chrome trim.

Keep in mind that some people change the trim so it's not a 100% guaranteed method of identification...

See if the car sits lower and if there is shadow trim. Also confirm if the car has ARS or not and check if the seats are sport. I would say sport seats with the expanding thigh support and the ARS is a 100% that it has sport package.

OH YEA, Check for silver trim on the steering wheel.

Another thing is Sport Pkg is noticably lower than non-sport. Also the steering wheels has a round air bag instead of the triangle (although not sure about 04 models), and the steering wheels is smaller.

the other giveaways are the sport seats (the frontmost thigh bolster should extend out), active steering (if you can only turn the wheel less than 1 turn each way, you've got it) and of course, the 18" style 124 wheels, but those are easily added later. a sport package car will have minimal gap between the top of the tire and the bottom of the front fenders. if there's a significant gap there, it likely doesn't have the sports package.

545s got that, sports package or not. there was no sport steering wheel (unless you got the SMG) until much later.

Not until late '05 production ('06 MY), so one less clue unfortunately.

Basically it's hard to tell, because the sports suspension is on my build sheet, but the sport seats, steering wheel, and shadowline are not on the car. It was sold CPO as having sports pkg, but it seems weird that so many of the sport pkg features are not there, except the most important - the suspension. The gap even when I had stock wheels was about 1-1.25" and it remains the same. I still want to drop it though.

that's right, 2004 sport package had a regular steering wheel w/ triangular bag.

so like everyone said above, look for:

-shadowline trim
-stagerred 124 wheels
-lower suspension
-sport seats

that was the standard with sport package. although all these things could be modified by previous owner
