My Ride: 2005 525i Titanium Silver Metalic and 2003 325xi Jet Black with the Premium Package in both cars.
It can't be that great a difference, the 04 530 is 215 HP while the 04 525 is 184, so were talking a difference of 39 ponies. I would guess a couple of miles per gallon either way. I don't think you should worry about it. Good luck.

As per fuel consumption, my 530 is, at the moment returning a woeful 18mpg, however, so far hasn't met a motorway and I have been putting my foot down now and again!
I did a stint on the motorway from j2 to Worcester on the M5... returned a whopping 38mpg at 75mph.
This forum has references to fueld consumption. Was going to get a 530d, but as I dont do the milage, no point.... plus the sound of a 6 sylinder petrol at 6000 rpm is ace!!
+1 it shouldnt be much of a difference. if you were comparing the I6 of one of them to one of the v8s, most probably a more noticeable difference. and also, welcome and enjoy the forums.
