As with every 0-60 time, how close a 'normal' driver can get to the stated time is debatable....

Officially it is 5.7, but I've heard of some of the publications getting 5.3 and 5.4. Does depend of course on driver skills

Is it me or does it seem like the 'refinement' of the e60's, namely the 545 sport numb out the sensation of acceleration? I know the 0-60 and 1/4 mile numbers are better than those of many japanese sports cars, yet you feel more acceleration in those cars. Also, I had an '04 545 sport auto demo car that my dealership let me use for a week while the DME was being changed in my car(545 sport 6 speed) before taking delivery, and it seemed like I felt more acceleration in the auto with 11k miles on it than on my car which now has about 2500 miles on it. Do you think I will get better performance as it 'breaks in' more? Maybe it's the crappy run-flats that came on my car?
I remember when Porsche brought out the 996, people were saying the same thing. The performance #'s were better than the 993(the previous model), but because it was so refined, you wouldn't get the same feeling of acceleration.

Your description of "numbing" is exactly what I've been thinking the last week. Granted I'm still breaking it in and haven't really tried full acceleration yet, but when I have pressed the gas a little harder than the norm, I do not get the sensation that I expect. The speed increases at a drastic rate, so I know Iit's accelerating hard, it just doesn't feel that way.

I found that if you really want to feel how fast the car is 0-60 "this is with my 545I 6-sp" and disable the dsc by holding it down longer then 3 seconds.
Don't even have to raise the rpm <mission control we have lift off>
My rear is set on fire while I'm on first ands second till I change to 3rd.

We all know Car & Driver gives 0 to 60 mph times and "street start" times.
Is the Steptronic 545i in DS mode or M1 to M6 really 0.2 seconds behind say an SMG or 6spd manual?
