Hello guys ... I'm in desperate need of a little help on my pride and joy.

I currently own a Bmw 520d se 57 plate Lci, the other day I was cruising along a dual carridge way when all of a sudden the car felt like it lost power, but the lights egnition was still on etc. I tryied at the time to accelerate but with no joy.. The car was just slowly coming to a halt.

I tryied to start the car again when it stopped but the car wouldn't start. There is no error messages on my idrive etc. the only error I could see was stability control when the car first cut out, but it only appeared for a couple of seconds before disappearing.

Anyhow I had the car towed pack to my home address and tryied jump starting the car as the battery is now flat!

Still no joy with jump leads so I decided to get a mechanic to pop up with a snap on scanner.

I've had the codes read and this is what it comes up with

19550 (4c5e) undocumented error

The car ran absolutely spot on prior to this break down. No troubles starting etc.

The only change I made in the last week before this happend, I changed my halo bulbs over to the Cree bulbs. I doubt this was any of the cause but just thought I'll throw that in there.

If the car just shuts off you while you drive, it might be the fuel pump seizing to do its job. Fully charge the battery, remove the back seat, remove the round metal pump cover and start the car (with engine not running first) and see if you can hear anything from there. A working fuel pump is very audibly noticeable when the back seat and round metal cover(s) is removed.

If that doesn't work, get a 20" socket extension from Harbor Freight or metal pipe and tap the starter a few times to see if you can get the car started.

Sorry, I am too lazy to do a google search on those codes for you. Check to see what those codes mean first. lol

Wait, I just realized you have a diesel. I am not sure if you even have a fuel pump under the back seat.

Good luck!

Thanks for the reply..

I'm also sure it isn't the pump . Surely that would of thrown up a fuel pump related code. I have looked those codes up on Google but they don't seem.to be common. They just say the basic thing like

4c12 DSC Status

It doesn't show a pacific or go into depth on how to fix the issues.

I'm trying to get a hold of a battery charger and try fully charge my battery again. As I'm not sure of jump leads are any good?

Just a quick question the code 19550 (4c5e) undocumented error

In Google it just says Particular filter... Would a dpf stop the car from at least running/starting? As in heading more towards my dpf as that seems to be the main one on the list.

Here in the states, clean diesels have a separate tank for a uria fluid that is injected into the exhaust forward of the exaust screen. I know a clean diesel will not start if the uria tank runs empty or below a certain level. I don't know if it would shutdown the Diesel engine or not.

Thanks for the reply, the only option I got is a company called Eden motors. There a Bmw specialist. Hopefully they can fix the issue. And I'm lost without my car

Will update if anyone has similar problems once fixed.

Many thanks for the help and replys guys
