IMHO, $2100 is steep for 1 year. If you can do some of the repairs, just put that $2100 in a bank account and use that money for repairs. If there were no repairs, then you get to keep that money.

Yeah that's a bit high for one year. You had 2 big items replaced already, everything else isn't as bad if you can do some things on your own.

I thought the same thing and last Sunday my water pump went out again at 72k miles, I am the second owner and the CarFax said it was replaced at 32k. The dealer's warranty was only powertrain and I had to shed out $1,100 out of my pocket for the water pump, thermostat, and installation.

IMO...save your money. But -- do save it.
My 2006 E60 has been pretty solid post warranty. I have only 60,000 miles since it doesn't get driven too often. I got every little thing done under warranty possible. Post warranty, I have fixed broken comfort seat extension mechanism and replaced the battery. Awaiting fixing are Nav DVD drive and lower control arm bushings. Brakes are original and will need to be done within the next 10K miles. For this car, the extended warranty would not have been worth it.
Wife's 2009 X5 with 60,000 miles is another story. At this point, I might have broken even if it were not for the fact I have done most of it myself.
I omitted all the non-wear and tear or normal stuff.
Under warranty:
- car was delivered to me in transport mode (!!!!)
- new radiator (2 visits before they got this right)
- new right side fuel pump (3 visits before they got this right)
- new iDrive screen
- replace N52 "ticking" exhaust lifters
- A/C broke several times
- automatic wipers weirded out and that was fixed by s/w upgrade allegedly
After warranty expired:
- A/C Compressor died (BMW picked this up goodwill since the A/C was broken twice before the warranty expired)
- parking brake switch broke and I replaced that (~$60)
- last oil change under BMW maint had a stripped oil pan plug so I Time-Sert that ($300 in all with the tool and a couple early oil changes)
- ECU box fan replaced (~$120)
- radiator started leaking, so I replaced that (~$500) [BTW, this is the second repalcement radiator in the car]
- water pump died so I replaced that along with thermostat and a hose or two (~$550 in all)
- windshield washer pump leaked, so I replaced two of the three pumps (~$200?)
- Vanos intake solenoid error so I pulled, cleaned and swapped the 2 Vanos solenoids
- cylinder 2 misfire (never returned after engine restart)
It hasn't broken in about 6 weeks and my fingers are crossed

First question is did you have the stage 2 preventive maintenance done by the dealer? At 60k it
should have been done. It's very extensive work under the CPO coverage. If you are planning to hold on to it for a few more years I believe an extended warranty might be prudent. Coverage
thru Route66 (under Pen Fed) will cost $1995 for 5 years/100k,which ever comes first. It covers
most of what the BMW 4 warranty cover with the exception of the alarm system(CAS-comfort access)and the music system. Where are you in NJ? I go to a fantastic Indy In Bellville. It's called Total Precision. It's 35 miles away and it's worth it.
