Exclamation [E60] ABS | DSC Problem

Hey guys,

Got a new set of lights that shine bright as a star on my dash.

Red Brake
ABS
DTC (Traction)
Flat Tire Monitor not available on I drive

This seemed to have happened after I put the negative cable back on the battery (I had a battery drain issue so I had to remove the negative so the car does not kill the battery completely)
Looking in INPA/DIS this is what it gives me.

DSC Error code: 5E40

Immediately I went to look this up on this and neighboring forums and there were mixed suggestions. These are the things I have tried.

Recalibrated the Steering angle sensor manually and with DIS
SZL seems fine because when I engage a turn signal and then turn the wheel it turns off when the wheel is returned to the original position, so it has to be okay.
Checked fuses for ABS DSC, all okay.
Erased fault codes, no go, they immediately come back on.

Leads me to believe that it could be a fault with the DSC module/ECU or simply a bad wheel speed sensor as DIS shows? (Could it really set off all these lights?)

Here is a Screenshot from DIS, indicates a right rear wheel speed sensor supply? Could it really have gone bad when I removed the negative cable and reconnected it? shorted something possibly.
Is there a way to check this out, or do I need to order a new one?

Any suggestiosn and help is welcome and appreciated,

Thank you!

Charged the battery, did not make a difference. This happened when I removed the battery cable and put it back on, something had to reset/short, but what ? Thanks for the tip Silber

I'd echo what others said - it's likely a voltage problem: battery, alternator or IBS are the prime suspects. What is voltage on the jump start terminal under the hood when vehicle off, idling and at 2000 RPM?

Hey guys, so I went into INPA/DSC ECU and read the live values for the speed sensors (ABS). All were showing the wheels' speed except the rear right one (as shown in the error in DIS.) So now this leads me to believe it is indeed a faulty Wheel Speed ABS sensor. I am just surprised that this could cause all these lights to come on.

I took the sensor out, it had lots of grime/dirt on it, cleaned it off with a cloth and air compressor, tried to drive the car again, INPA still shows no reading (dead sensor).

(Today while reaching a speed of 55MPH, I got another error, CRUISE CONTROL MALFUNCTION, further research proved that when the sensor goes faulty, the cruise control becomes inactive/malfunctions. If it was the driver's side sensor, the speedo would not work correctly)

I ordered the sensor, should be here around Wednesday then I will see if that was truly the culprit of the problem. If not, I will start looking at places such as the IBS and or Battery, even though IBS seems to be okay, and battery is fairly new.

Thank you!

Problem has been resolved. Thanks for the support guys. Came out to be a fault in the wiring system further up behind the wheel well, was not supplying anything to the sensor which caused a Transmission error, CAN error, multiple DSC errors along with the "Christmas Tree" Lights on the dash... What a nightmare.

Thanks again!

I hope this is what is the issue with mine. I also have a Christmas tree of those lights so we'll see!
