Auto-headlight / rain sensor. Appears that the sensor was fine, but the wiring became loose and shorted out. All covered by CPO....although it took 4 hours of me sitting there instead of the 45min quoted. In the end, I was glad a good tech was on the car that day.

Thanks for the information. I have a call into my SA to determine if the tie rod (which is loose) according to the dealer would be considered under CPO.

Thank you everyone for the inputs. I hope this information becomes useful.
My engine (N52) starting ticking yesterday on a cold start. It seems ok today, but I will be taking it in sometime next week. Appears that other members were successful in getting it fixed under the CPO warranty: http://forums.5serie...being-replaced/
I will keep everyone posted. Hopefully everything is covered under CPO warranty for this issue.

I had an issue with no heat on the passenger side. They replaced the water valves which did not fix so I went back and they replaced both heater cores on a recommendation from BMW (kudos to BMW for standing behind the CPO). The two days of shop time alone covered the difference in price between CPO and the non CPO cars at the dealer.

Follow-up: Lifters were replaced for the engine ticking noise under the CPO warranty. Glad this happened before my warranty expired. Otherwise it would have been close to $2k bill I believe.
I am more than happy with the CPO coverage thus far.

Had my camshaft valve cover gasket and my vacuum pump replaced, both due to oil leaks. I never had this many problems with my E39! Ive only got 35k miles on her too.

just fixed: driver side thigh extender actuator, vacuum pump replaced due to excessive oil leak. Funny thing is, I brought my car in at 63K for service having never noticed an oil leak, and my SA told me that something is probably leaking, so he'll state that customer notices an oil leak on the floor, and sure enough they found the vacuum pump. SA said that's quite normal for our cars to leak here and there. every time i go now while i'm under CPO I'll probably say I see an oil leak so they can check what's going under there.
