My Ride: 2003 E60 520i Black Metalic. Glass Sun Roof, Climate Control High, Bluetooth, Leather Memory, PDC, Adaptive Xenon, Navi Pro, Voice Control, Ipod, Folding rear seats, OEM 172 19" Summer Wheels, OEM 138 17" Winter Wheels.

Hi

My friend is planning on renewing his (e39) M5 wheels, and we are debating what the OEM color code is. Anybody has any hints?

I've asked this question before. Can't help with the silver chrome of E39 M5 wheels but used Standox 812 on my style 172's and they are a very good match

Hmm - ok. Thanks for the response. I talked to a local paint workshop today, and they claimed that the original color was done in a powder coating process starting with a underlying black layer, with a silver layer on top. Don't know if that is true?

Anyway, he showed me some other wheels he has sprayed using his own "blend" that looked pretty close to the real thing. So I think we will be going forward with that. I will see if I can get some info out of him on his receipe
