Hi all. I have just gotten my MY 97 528i back from the doctor. It died on me after I spent a grip on radiator, water pump etc, etc. last October. I then bought my current 5er. Well, now that I have the e39 back I realize I still love her. Well I am thinking of doing mods to it now. First there are some repairs that need to happen. The driver seat side covering just fell off(who knew). I have to try and find this part. Also the ASC light with the triangle is on and the airbag light is on.

Now these lights were on before the head went bad. I am actually sick of all the lights that come on in the e39. Trunk actuator needs to be replaced. Only the driver side window works. Probably need motors or regulators.

Maybe I'll get a chance to do some DIY on the car. Engine sounds strong even with the 220k on it. Here are some pixs

I must say, I also really love my E39 Touring. It had 280.000 km, and still going strong, no problems, no rattles.....

Great build car!

Today I went to my insurer, insured the car and then proceeded to the smog center. Well the car did not past smog. The smog center is next door to the shop that did the new head for the car. I had seat belt light on and the ASC+T light was on too. This in itself didn't keep it from passing. The printout showed I was pumping out to much NO (Nitrogen) and Carbon. I told the shop to fix the car and take it next door for the smog.

Has anyone seen these symptons.

thanks

some work ahead of you.
if you plan on spending any money on modding you should get rid of the baloon tires and tiny wheels. style 5s would work great, also I'd get smoked headlight lenses and AE..

On a lighter note, would be interesting to know how many miles OP's car has now and what's been up with it since the thread got started
