1978 e12 - sunroof motor in trunk
Hello all - I am looking for a used/new sunroof motor for my 1978 e12. The motor is mounted in the trunk. The BMW part number is: 54131362601. Please let me know if you have one that you'd like to sell - thanks

Sean, you are a life saver! I have been scouring eBay for weeks and did not see the two units listed from Coupeking. The second unit picture, with the metal housing, is exactly what I am looking for. Thank you for your help. Happy New Year!

Hello all - does anyone have instructions on how to replace the sunroof motor in the trunk? Specifically, today I ran into the challenge of trying to figure out how is it possible to get the channel guide flange to be seated into the slotted groove of the gear box that is positioned above the motor assembly. Please see the pics attached - thank you
Note the large nut - which is the large gear that resides above the motor assembly and drives the screw cable to the sunroof.
New motor assembly. Note this view is the back side of the large nut/gear box assembly (note the hump). Also, not the grove to the left/right where the cable guide flange would be seated.
Cover open, revealing the large gear that the motor gear turns to drive the sunroof cable.

Hello all - does anyone have instructions on how to install the sunroof motor drive in the trunk of an e12? Today, I attempted to swap my tired motor for my new motor assembly. All going well until I got to the part where I could not figure out how to get the cable guide flange - that is seated in the designated slot of the gear housing - out of its position. You will note, in the pics below, that the large gear the drive the worm drive cable back and forth is secured by a large nut facing the inside of the trunk. I was not able to get this nut undone. How did the BMW techs manage a motor assemble swap? Thank you
Note the large nut drive in the center.
The back side of the gear assembly reveals the designated cable guide flange position to the left/right of the gear drive.
Cover off of the gear assembly exposing the main gear drive, and the notches for the cable guide flanges (top/bottom in pic).
