So just like NCS and INPA - I read the internet for days and hours - and after some great advice and a few mistakes I got it. WinKFP information is a tad more elusive and obscure. I get the gist of what to do once I have my ZUSB number and the workings of 'comfort mode' - but getting to that point is just not happening for me. I have tried following the PDF on how to start using WinKFP - and I do the assembly line data import (One board said to do ECU data too, so I did that) it seems to import because the progress bar goes to 100% - but when I enter my VIN and ZUSB it tells me there is no data for such a module and when I go to the ZUSB list it is empty, so obviously I am not importing data correctly - OR - I am importing the wrong data. I have the latest DATEN files and everything else under EDIABAS seems to work....just not this.

So is there a chance that an expert in this field that is not yet tired of answering these questions could point me in the right direction?

I have searched and read every related post (that I know of) on this forum, bimmerforums, bmwcoding, bimmerretrofit, ecubb, and other Russian sites (found in Google) and I am just not getting it...

All I am trying to do this time is update CGATE so I can use CIC controller with pre-LCI retrofitted CCC.

Thanks!

Hey Chase,

I got everything I needed to out of that how_to_start_winkfp.pdf to make mine work.

My version is 5.1.6 and the NFS folder has 2,170 files and size on disk is 4.62 GB (4,967,452,672 bytes)

Jim

I did copy over gdaten yes, but the files I have are MUCH smaller than what you mention Jim - so this is where I went wrong. I will start fresh with a clean install and follow the PDF to the letter - I am sure this is what I am doing wrong.

Thanks guys!!

EDIT: In the 'how to start' PDF it mentions file names called SD-DATEN, I have no such directory. I will keep trying.

When following that guide, just do the E60 car. Don't bother about all the other cars.

Thanks for your help guys . I managed to figure it all out....

I updated the CGATE then my iDrive low controller stopped working - the menu button too. It gave me a good scare - so I messaged NoQuarter for advice and he assured me it was fine.

So today I ripped the center console out and did some dremel hacking. I thought I blew it a few times because cutting is scary on these cars.

But in the end the CIC controller is in and functioning perfectly.

I do believe that will be my last experience with WinKFP, too nerve racking. Whoever buys this car will have a mystery on their hands as to why the controller is so new but nav is so old.

BMW did actually produce a run of these cars with the CIC controller but with the CCC (LCI version ofcourse).

Yep Oct/2008 - march/2009, my LCI CCC was setup for the CIC controller when I installed it and had to down grade the MOST/gateway.
