Valentine One Hardwire and Blendmount install
I had a Valentine One radar detector hardwired for my E39 M5, along with Stealth install so that the alerts showed up on the IKE and/or NAV instead of blinking up there. You could even control /mute the alerts by the up/down volume.
Still, the V1 mount was stuck to the windshield, occaissionally dropping down. It was effective but far from pretty. I had researched hard mounted attachent and found a Blendmount product I thought might fit the bill. Finally took the plunge and ordered a set for the M5 and another for my E61 530iXT.
Blendmount BMW Custom Radar Mount
They arrived last week, and were really well engineered. It took me about 30m to read the instructions and fiddle around with the mirror to see how it installed and I was done.
Took another 5m to install it on the M5. Drive back down to FL, and it really worked out well.
The install on the mirror is well thought out, even gives a good amount of space to the red ball for security. I had hardwired the V1 to the green/yellow? wire up in the overhead light console, so power was easily accessed.
Not too much installing, but I can post some pics of post install and some pointers (seems like should be installed from passenger side easiest.

There is a waiting list for M5, but it appears to be for later models than my 2001. Check the front page of the BMW section to ID which type of mirror stem you have which will tell you which version of mount to order. Both my 2006 530iXT and 2001 E39 M5 use the standard BMW mount, which fits fantastic.

My Ride: Looking to purchase E60 550i
Sorry to bump a dead thread but I'm really interested in your V1 setup. You said you got the alerts to show up on your IKE and NAV. Do you have any pictures? I live in VA where radar detectors are illegal so I need to make my setup as incognito as possible.

I just installed my escort 9500ix radar using the blendmount and although pricey it's an awesome product, I've used suction cups before and hated how the radar detector moved and wobbled, this mount is solid. I don't need a remote mute button, it's easily accessible right in the center bottom of the mirror. So far it doesn't seem like the mirror housing impedes the GPS signal of the radar detector.
I followed Don Juan's thread on tapping into the green/yellow wire, instead of trying to attach ground to the hard to get bolt, I drilled a hole on the inside sheetmetal used a screw to attach the ground cable, nothing to it.

That was in an older 2001 BMW M5 with the Stealth One install. That doesn't work with our CANBUS. Sorry
