I read somewhere else the same thing... a grn/yel wire to the sunroof switch (which is what I used unsuccessfully), and a grn/yel in the bundle between the rain sensor and the mirror?... I'm going out this morning in better light to see if I can identify that second wire and use it. Seemed to be a solution for some who posted elsewhere. I do worry that software is monitoring current etc on some of these circuits, hence the error message. I know my problem currently is <not> the tap connector connection -- it is clearly producing 13.6v to the V1 junction box.

Thanks,

Cal

Has this issue been solved in the '08 550i? I have tapped the green/yel wire (the only one in the compartment, leads to the sunroof switch), the V1 doesn't power up even though there's 13.7v verified, and I get the anti-trap warning when I attempt to operate the sunroof. If I disconnect the red wire to the V1 from the tap, the warning goes away and the sunroof operates.

I think we need to tap a different switched power wire for the V1, but I have no idea which one.

HELP?

I have an 08 535xi and i tapped the g/y wire, got the V1 to start up once but then turned the unit off and have not been able to get power since. the sunroof works and have no error messages. I checked the inline fuse on the v1, it seems fine, maybe i blew another fuse in the car but not sure. I've read some threads to cheeck the fuse box in the trunk but i don't know where it is or what fuse number to look for. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I really want this thing working.

Thanks

As was suggested in this thread, LCI's may have a different wiring scheme. At least in the case of mine and another couple posters,
Cal

IMO the reason the blue tap does not work is because the wire is too small. Also I would have concerns about too small of wire for the current of the V1 plus whatever the wire is feeding. Tap into the passenger side 12v aux port under the dash is best IMHO.

where did you ground in the area behind the panel in the passenger footwell? i have had a hard time getting a good ground. thx in advance

Tap the green/yellow wire in the courtesy lights. It's so much easier. I did my V1 in my new car, yesterday. It took me 10 mins to do the install. Was a snap! However, this was my 3rd time doing it. I must be a pro by now . Just cut some of the plastic sheath back on the green/yellow wire, prior to tapping it with the the blue connector and you'll be all set. Ground it on the Torx screw behind the panel for the sunroof.

im sure you guys can do a similar job in hardwiring the V1 as i have done in my e90. here is a link from e90post that has some pictures and bried install instructions to help out. we should be getting out e61 within the next 2 weeks and i will provide a little DIY with the fuse tap method.

So I am thinking about using the fusetap option for my V1. Anyone know which fuse location is the best to use?

After getting more advice from fellow owners, I moved forward with the green/yellow dome area wiring for my 08 535i. So far it appears to have worked, with no errors being displayed yet. I haven't driven it since installation, but did start the car, open the sunroof, and closed the sunroof, no issues. Hooking into ground was a pain in the butt, as their are only two screws in the dome area that appear to work, and both of those are in a tight space due to the headliner being so close.
