Hi all ! This is my first post and i wish to first thank whoever is running this forum as this is a mine of information !!!

My Xmas gift this year was special : A Business Nav kit bought on Ebay by my Father in law ;-)

My car is a E61 11/2004 530D that comes with a CD player only.

Here are some pictures of the kit :

I am wondering if these two parts and the DVD are enough for a Retrofit.
Is there a guide on how to replace the idrive ?

Hi mmarco50

Nice present to get :) , nice father in law to have :)

Well okay , shall we take the best part first , you wont have to change the I-Drive controller , thats only nessecery when you upgrade to Nav. Prof.

The "bad" news is you will have to change the "shark fin" antenna to one with GPS if it should be done 100% according to BMW norm , but the easy way is to buy a simple standard GPS antenna and mount that under the roof or in the upper corner of the windscreen , you will properly have to alter the connection for the antenna wire to fit ther connector on the M-ASK ( radio unit ).

A coding of the car to the "new" Business M-ASK will properly be nessecery , depending what option's your car have now , and witch the car it came from had , if you are lucky it's the same . elsway you will have to go by the BMW dealership afterwards for coding.

Good lock with the project , and let us know how it goes.

Best Regards
BenAnd

Hi mmarco50

The trim is the same for all M-ASK ( Business M-ASK or regular M-ASK ) , first with the LCI model there is a difference.

But if you look at the pics the business Satnav i want to fit is too small compared to the Cd charger that is already fitted. There will be a gap.
I did not fin any topic about fitting business satnav in place of the CD player, most are about upgrading to pro satnav and in this case the trim comes alraedy with 2 slots, one with DVD and on with CD player.
Do I need then to get a special extra bit of trim ?

Hi mmarco50

What you are trying to compare is the M-ASK already mounted in the car "sitting" behind the trim , and a M-ASK with out the front-trim on , so when you take off the front-trim in the car , you will see that the radio M-ASK look's the same :) , so no reason to worry :) , it will fix it self , when you get to the point of mounting your new Business nav N-ASK.
