So Im about to do the Angel Eye upgrade to my 525i. From what I have read from other members, It looks like its kinda tricky to install the new bulb while the head light is still installed on the car. I saw the video where the asian mechanic does the switch in 5 minutes. And I saw the thread here where someone did it to his car WITH adaptive xenons but left them plugged in, but still removed the light for easier access.

My question is, if I unplug my adaptive xenons, will it have any sort of adverse effects on them? Such as loss of calibration, or having to have the dealer turn them back on.

I don't believe it will do any harm. And you can always unplug the battery 1st before unplugging the headlight. But it's not necessary, AFAIK. I can't be wrong about adaptive.

Alright, thanks for the info. Just trying to be safe. I think Im just going to try and leave it plugged in if I can. But if I have to, I will disconnect them.

You won't have a problem as long as your car is turned off ... I didn't find it necessary to disconnect the battery either - since that causes a whole bunch of other problems. And with the light out of the car you can reduce scratches on your hands by 50% when installing the AEs!

You'll be fine. I changed out my bulbs with out unplugging it from the battery and its fine. Remember to mask tape around the headlights on your bumper as the headlight removal will require some shimming movement. This will keep your bumper from getting any scuffed up.

Yea I finally got it all done. The first one took a little while to figure out. The second one i got done in about 5-7 minutes. I love the new look. I just want to drive around with my parking lights on all the time now. And i wish it would be cloudy so you can see them better than in broad daylight. lol.
